A Sun-tastic shoot...

A couple months ago we did that cool photoshoot with lovely Namate Sililo, supported by amazing team of Sylwia Domagala - MUA and Laura Toon - hair stilist, we've managed to produce some great images imitating hard sunlight in the studio.
The concept was simple, make it look hot, vibrant and sexy. I think we've managed to get all those elements to work quite well.

Namate was great! She can make her body float and twist almost like a snake, in positive meaning of course :)

As you can see below this setup also gives you an ability to easily change the background color in post production

And here's some info about the setup for the tech freaks :)

the key light for this shoot was an Alien Bees 800 head with standard reflector located high up and about 3-4 meters away from the  model, it had to be at almost full power to get an exposure of about f/8-11
to get the right angle of the light/shadow the position of the head was changed according to the camera angle, to be honest having an assistant to move the light fluently would be a big advantage

to soften it a bit I've added a fill which was another Alien Bees 800 head with white, shoot through umbrella at the same distance but placed as low as possible

the trick about the fill is to adjust it to the level that the hard shadow on the wall will get as bright as we want it to be so the power of the fill should be adjusted according to photographer's own taste/need

Ok, so as I really liked the outcome I did another shoot in this style, this time with another amazing model -Bambi (Lynn Mathieson) and the MUA/hair was Marta Sikorska.

It was quite easy to reproduce the effect with even better results. Instead of using the shoot through umbrella I've decided to use large beauty dish with white diffusion sock on. It was placed it in the center at the back and the power was about 1 stop under the key light which made the shadow look brighter and even.
